The 36,000-pound max towing is available on the Work Truck trim with a specific set of configurations, including the 6.6-liter Duramax® diesel engine with the 10-speed Allison® automatic transmission, plus the Max Tow Package.
Putting out 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque, the 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 puts out impressive towing power across the board. The 6.6-liter V8 gas engine also does well, with a lower but nonetheless significant towing capacity of 17,370 pounds.
The Silverado 3500HD is also getting plenty of towing tech updates for the 2021 model year, making it easier than ever to tow those big trailers and heavy loads. Newly available on the Silverado HD is the Jack-Knife Alert, which helps you avoid hitting your trailer when backing up.
The 2021 Silverado will also offer an available trailer length indicator that makes it safer to change lanes when towing. Chevy has even equipped the new Silverado with more camera views, including a new Rear Trailer View and enhancements to the Cargo Bed View and Rear Side View cameras.
