Chevrolet is giving two of its models a more off-road slant for the 2022 model year. Not only is it adding an off-road ZR2 variant of the 2022 Silverado, but the 2022 Colorado now comes with a Trail Boss off-road package. Here’s what you should know about this new package that’s available on the Colorado LT and Z71.
Per Car and Driver’s Joey Capparella, the Trail Boss off-road package puts the 2022 Colorado on par with its GMC counterpart, the Canyon. It’s also a happy medium between the Z71 and ZR2 if you want a bit more capability than the former but don’t want to commit to the heftier price of the latter.
The package includes front and mid-vehicle skid plates to shield the undercarriage from bumps and scrapes. A 1-inch suspension-leveling kit boosts the ride height for enhanced visibility when blazing new trails. The 17-inch high gloss black wheels pair with red recovery hooks and black tailgate lettering and Colorado badging for a touch of flair.
